Tennessee man arrested on drunk driving charges
Virtually no one in Tennessee or elsewhere can claim to have never made a mistake. That said, some mistakes are more impactful than others; drunk driving charges can have a negative impact on the rest of a person’s life. If a conviction is obtained, the outcome can include a wide range of punitive measures. They can include fines, probation or time behind bars. Even worse, the DUI will remain on an individual’s driving record, which can lead to issues finding employment or securing affordable insurance.
Those are just some of the issues that are facing a man who was recently charged with drunk driving in connection with a three-car wreck. The accident led to injuries, although thankfully no one was killed. The crash took place near mile marker 58 on Interstate 75.
When police arrived, they allegedly met with the driver. They report that he seemed to be under the influence of drugs at that time. He purportedly had watery, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. During a search of his vehicle, the officers allegedly found prescription medications.
The man was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment and was apparently released with out being charged. Upon later investigation, police believed that his actions played a causal role in the crash and issued a warrant for his arrest. He turned himself in and will now answer to those charges. It is unclear how he will respond, but if the prescription medications were his, and those medications were being used as ordered, it is possible that he simply had a bad reaction. If that was the case, he could build his defense around that fact and could avoid conviction on Tennessee drunk driving charges.
