Police called over drunk driving concerns
No one is perfect, and everyone makes poor choices from time to time. In some cases, a person could end up in a serious legal situation if their decision involves drunk driving. Still, even if criminal charges are brought against a person for such action, options still exist for working toward the best possible outcome for that predicament.
One woman in Tennessee may find it useful to explore her legal options after recently being taken into custody. Reports stated that the woman had been at a restaurant when police were called over concerns relating to her driving and the possibility of intoxication. Police reportedly caught up with the woman while she was on the road, and her vehicle was allegedly swerving out of her lane of travel.
Officers pulled her vehicle over, and they stated that the woman’s speech was slurred and that she appeared unsteady as she exited the vehicle. They also apparently conducted field sobriety tests, which she reportedly did not perform in a satisfactory manner. The woman also handed police her purse, which contained a loaded handgun. As a result, she is facing charges for DUI and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
Before feeling out of hope regarding her situation, this Tennessee woman may want to remember that she has the right to create and present a criminal defense against the drunk driving allegation and other charge. Information on her rights and options may help her determine what steps she would like to take to address her case. She may also want to ensure that the information she obtains is applicable.
