Drunk driving charges, other allegations brought against woman
When it comes to handling criminal charges, an accused person can easily become confused about the right steps to take. The criminal justice system is certainly complex, and an accused person will have many actions to complete in order to properly address the charges brought against him or her. In particular, a person who has been accused of drunk driving may benefit from taking steps toward building a criminal defense.
It was recently reported that a woman in Tennessee was taken into custody on charges for drunk driving and other allegations. Apparently, the woman had been driving a vehicle when she crashed into a parked vehicle. That parked vehicle was reportedly a police officer’s patrol car, and the officer had been parked while conducting a stationary observation.
Officers spoke with the woman, and she allegedly stated that she had had a single beer before driving. Police then apparently searched her vehicle, and they purportedly found a half-full, open container of alcohol. The search also reportedly uncovered a baggie with prescription medication. As a result, the woman is now facing charges for DUI, open container and possession of controlled substances.
The woman now faces a serious predicament due to the allegations brought against her. Drunk driving and drug possession charges could easily lead to severe consequences if she is convicted of the charges, but fortunately, she can take the time to create and present a criminal defense against those charges. In order to understand her available options, she may wish to gain information from local Tennessee legal resources.
