Recently, one Tennessee mother of three remarked that the majority of children are tempted to try alcohol at some point. However, she expressed dismay when she heard that deputies supposedly discovered four young people drinking, including a 9-year-old. While there were allegedly several youths who admitted drinking, at this point one 18-year-old is facing underage drinking charges.

The deputies were purportedly responding to a disturbance call when they arrived at a residence. When they confronted the occupants of the home, they reportedly discovered that two 14-year-old girls, the 18-year-old and a 9-year-old child had all allegedly been imbibing alcoholic beverages. The teen girls apparently said that they were drinking whiskey.

One of the girls claimed that she had obtained a bottle of whiskey while still in the vehicle that transported her to the party. The deputies say that the youngest child was also purportedly drinking, but they did not provide any further details as to the child’s condition nor that of the teenage girls. The was no mention of any parental supervision, and there was no further information reported as to how the youths gained access to the alcoholic beverages.

The 18-year-old was the only one formally charged with underage drinking, though the younger children may face some form of juvenile proceedings. The charged man will likely benefit from professional guidance as to the best course of action as his case heads to the Tennessee court system. He is presumed innocent at every stage of the proceedings unless prosecutors are ultimately able to prove otherwise. He and his defense counsel may also elect to explore any offers to resolve the charges that may be extended in order to achieve an optimal result in his own best interests.
